Delete your account
Version 1.1, effective 7 October 2026.
This page is for the Dein School app, published by DeinX Technologies on Google Play and the App Store. It explains how a parent or member of school staff can ask for their Dein School account and personal data to be deleted, what we delete, and what your school keeps. You can make the request without the app.
How to request deletion
Use any one of these. All three reach the same team, and none of them requires a phone call.
1. In the app. Open Dein School, go to Profile, then Delete account, and tap Request deletion. The app opens an email to us with your registered mobile number already filled in. Send it to start the request.
2. By email, without the app. Write to info@deinxtechnologies.com with:
- the subject line Delete my account;
- your full name;
- the mobile number you sign in with;
- the name of your school;
- whether you are a parent or a member of staff.
3. Through your school. Ask your school's office to remove your access. The school created your account, so it can switch it off straight away. If you also want your personal data deleted, use option 1 or 2 as well, or ask the school to pass the request to us.
We reply to confirm we have your request. Before deleting anything we check that the request comes from you: the mobile number must match your account, or you reply from the email address registered for it. We may call your registered number to confirm.
Why deletion is a request, not a button
You did not sign up for Dein School yourself. Your account was created by your school: the school records each student, adds the parents' mobile numbers to the student's profile, and adds its staff. Those records belong to the school, which is responsible for them under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. That is why the app sends a request instead of deleting instantly: we tell your school, and the school decides what happens to its own records, as explained below.
What we delete
Within 30 days of confirming your request, we:
- delete your sign in account, so your mobile number can no longer be used to sign in to Dein School;
- delete your personal profile: your name, email address, profile photo and language preference;
- delete your notification settings and the device tokens used to send you push notifications;
- withdraw any WhatsApp consent you gave, so no more WhatsApp messages are sent to you;
- remove your link to your children's records, so you no longer see them.
We email you when the deletion is complete.
What is kept, and why
Records your school keeps. Your school may be required by law, or need for its own administration, to keep:
- your children's school records, such as admission details, attendance, marks, certificates and fee receipts;
- for staff, employment records such as attendance and leave;
- a record of changes you made while you were a member of staff, which the school keeps for accountability.
We tell your school about your request. These records stay with the school for as long as it needs them, and the school decides when they are deleted. To ask for them to be deleted or corrected, contact your school.
What we keep, for a limited time.
- Backups expire within 30 days. They are never restored to bring back a deleted account.
- Sign in logs, including the IP address of sign in attempts, are kept for 1 year to protect accounts and to meet security incident reporting rules in India.
- Product analytics records carry an internal user ID, not your name or phone number. They are not deleted one by one, and they expire on their own within 1 year.
- Your deletion request and our reply are kept for 1 year, like every support ticket, as proof that we acted on it.
If you only want to stop messages
You do not need to delete your account to stop messages. Turn WhatsApp messages off in the app under notification settings, and turn push notifications off in your phone's settings.
